If your PCSing to Peterson Air Force Base and you are considering buying a home in Colorado Springs you may have come across homes that are being sold as short sales. A short sale is where the home owner is facing foreclosure so the bank is going to take less than what is owed on the home to get it sold to prevent foreclosure. Short sales can be great deals for home buyers but the only draw back is it can take anywhere from 30 days to 6 months to close. If your in need of a home now then a short sale is probably not the way to go unless you can play the waiting game. One other note after waiting months and months to close on a short sale you may not always get the home. Sometimes banks just say no to short sales after buyers have waited months to close.
